With renewed interest, having been inspired by Retro Gamer's article featuring my time in the games industry, I dug out my old Spectrum game development notes and set to work on preparing my previously unreleased game 'Quadron' for its 30th anniversary.
Lacking access to the original source code, I worked in my spare time with the disassembly and my original notes to kind of reverse engineer the whole thing in order to address bugs and tweaks spotted along the way. About 5 months later, it was finally ready for release!
Quadron is a commercial quality game for the 48K ZX Spectrum that took two years to develop and is being offered as a paid download for anyone interested in playing it. A free demo version is also available.
And now I've started to locate them, I'm offering downloads of other, simpler Spectrum games I wrote in the 80s that either didn't quite hit the mark with publishers or were simply made for my own amusement.
It's been fun and absorbing to revisit the joys of programming the Spectrum and Z80. I hope you'll enjoy my efforts too!
